Former NFL Player Expresses Concern for Grizzlies' Ja Morant

Errick Miron, formerly known as Ricky Williams, has a history of causing uproar. During his playing career, the former Texas football star and NFL running back was repeatedly

chastised for failing drug tests and receiving consequent suspensions. He looks to have gained an interesting viewpoint on another troubled athlete as a result of his experiences.

Miron asked for empathy when discussing Grizzlies star Ja Morant and the controversy that has surrounded him in recent months on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz on Thursday.

Miron especially referenced the latest police welfare check after Morant made a series of strange statements on social media.

"Checking on someone's mental health isn't waiting until they're afraid," Miron explained. "Inquiring about someone's mental health demonstrates concern for what's going on inside of them.

And I believe no one has cared about Ja Morant during this entire process. All they've concerned about is whether he's breaking the rules or not.

"The unfortunate thing about most athletes is that they don't care unless it affects their ability to compete," Miron remarked. "And that isn't good for our soul." When the only value people see in us is what we can bring to their enjoyment and they don't care who's on the inside."

Morant has been involved in a number of off-court events in the last year, and he is presently being investigated by the NBA for displaying a gun on Instagram Live.
