Season 5 Finale of "Outlander" Reveals Claire, Mackenzies' Fate, Plus EP & Star Tease What Will Season 6 Bring?

Starz Outlander's season five finale was good. Tonight's episode, Never My Love, was directed by Jamie Payne and written by showrunner Matthew B. Roberts and Toni Graphia.

The finale opens with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) being held captive by Lionel Brown (Ned Dennehy) and his men after Lionel discovered that Claire was publishing articles with innovative medical tips for the Ridge's residents under the guise of Dr. Rawlings. 

Lionel accuses Claire of "spreading dangerous ideas." Lionel's goons tie up and beat Claire as she tries to escape.

Claire offers to return Wendigo Donner to his time if he can save her. Wendigo doesn't help much since he's afraid of the consequences. 

Lionel and his crew pitch up camp, which becomes sour. Several men, including Lionel, sexually attack Claire while gagged and bound to a tree.

Claire flees into a fantasy of her close family gathering for Thanksgiving in the 1970s to forget the assault.

Roger (Richard Rankin), Brianna (Sophie Skelton), and Jemmy were thinking about "home" while traveling through the stones and ended up in the 1770s. 

he Mackenzies and Young Ian (John Bell) arrive at the main home to find the cross lit, a sign of trouble. After Jamie (Sam Heughan) updates them, Roger and Ian join him to rescue Claire and attack Lionel's camp.
